Roasted Goose Laifen
Laifen (rice noodles) is a traditional Dongguan birthday food symbolizing longevity and good luck. The most famous Roast Goose Laifen in Dongguan is in Houjie. Its secret lies in the soup, which uses a whole chicken, with large chunks of meat and bones, and many types of medicinal herbs and spices to cook. The Laifen is first cooked in hot water, and then put in the bowl with a spoonful of soup, followed by a slice of goose on top to add flavor.
